&lt;p&gt;We're thrilled to share the fantastic news that Tech Clean California has joined the list of states&amp;nbsp;to develeop a rebate program specificly for single family air-to-water heat pump systems. We are proud to announce that our highly efficient 4- and 5-ton&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://www.spacepak.com/R32-heat-pumps" target="_blank"&gt;Solstice R32 models&lt;/a&gt; qualify for this valuable program. This means that Californian HVAC professionals can now offer their clients substantial savings: $2,500 for heating-only systems and an incredible $10,000 for combination systems that provide both space and water heating.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Air-to-water heat pumps are a cutting-edge solution for space heating and domestic hot water needs. These highly efficient systems transfer heat from the outside air to water and are designed to work in a wide range of climates. Air-to-water heat pumps reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while delivering consistent performance and comfort. Can simply switching the thermal distribution fluid from refrigerant to water/glycol have significant positive impacts? As you will learn in this interview with Jim Bashford from SpacePak, the short answer to these questions may well be, simply, Yes.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class=""&gt;You don&amp;rsquo;t have to be a building nerd or an engineer for a question like this to be relevant and important to consider. The purpose for the EPA's Emerging Technology Award is to&amp;nbsp;accelerate&amp;nbsp;the awareness and adoption of new or under-exposed technologies&amp;nbsp;that have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Product category's EPA defines as&amp;nbsp;an Emerging Technology do not yet have established Energy Star programs, the purpose for the ET award is to identify and recognize the technologies that should have an Energy Star porgram and aims to serve as a pre-cursor for one to be developed. This award is a symbol of the environmental leadership role SpacePak has been spearheading since introducing air-to-water heat pumps to the North American market in 2011. &lt;p&gt;As our hydronic trainings and number of air-to-water installations continue to grow into the thousands, so is the awareness, adoption, and types of applications. &lt;h2&gt;What is COP?&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The efficiency of a heat pump is measured by its Coefficient of Performance (COP), which is a ratio of energy input vs. energy output. The higher the COP, the more efficient a heat pump is, the less energy it consumes, and the more cost-effective it is to operate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;At -5 &amp;deg;F (-20 &amp;deg;C), SpacePak&amp;rsquo;s Solstice Extreme has a COP greater than 2. This effectively means that even on the coldest day, for every 1 Kw of energy our heat pump uses, it produces 2 Kw of heat energy. And as the temperature rises, so does the Solstice Extreme&amp;rsquo;s efficiency.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The estimated annual COP of a typical SpacePak air-to-water system is 3. This means that your heating system runs at an estimated annual average efficiency of 300%. Compared to traditional electric resistance baseboard which has a COP of 1, a SpacePak air-to-water heat pump is 3 times more efficient.&lt;/p&gt;
